Dr. Dat T. Nguyen is one of the most experienced bariatric and colorectal surgeons in the Bay Area and has conducted hundreds of weight loss procedures and thousands of other
advanced laparoscopic surgeries in his career. He holds certifications from the American Board of Surgery as well as the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Nguyen is known for being progressive and innovative in both colorectal and bariatric surgery at his practice serving East Bay, including Pleasanton and San Ramon.
Dr. Nguyen is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School. He subsequently obtained his post-graduate surgical training at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He excelled in laparoscopic surgery and received the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons Resident Achievement Award in 1998. Dr. Nguyen then completed distinguished fellowships in Surgical Oncology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the University of Texas Herman Hospital in Houston. He began his medical career as staff surgeon at South San Francisco Kaiser-Permanente in 1999 and founded his private bariatric surgery practice, serving Pleasanton, San Ramon, and East Bay, in 2002.
